So we all want to improve our power by increasing the trusty Rover V8 engine Horse Power wise yes

But can we improve our performance by using a different gear box scratchchin

So the question is are there any other options, gear box wise, that can bolt onto the RV8 scratchchin such as as a Six Speed Jobie from the States or what ever.

If so what would you expect to change, 0 to 60 and Top Speed performance wise ?

What would it cost to purchase and fit etc scratchchin

Are any other options available to us i wonder scratchchin

Any ideas guys ?

Hmmmm, so reading between the lines, what you are really trying to ask is;

Hi guys , being a fat er I feel that my gearbox is struggling to pull my fat arse off the line so does anyone know of a low ratio gearbox that will fit to my Griff?

okay, for a serious answer then.....why not phone these guys, in all probability it would be a different set of gears within the t5 box to give faster acceleration or faster top end, depending on what you are after, or changing the ratios within the rear diff,same as playing around in my motorbike days by changing the sizes of the sprockets on the drive shaft and rear wheel, but more expensive to do on a car!

Whatever you do with ratios, gears or final drive, you will create a 'hole' somewhere else? The question is pretty silly IMHO, unless you can define exactly where you want some performance & where you are prepared to sacrifice some...

If you have a lot more power & decide you want to lengthen the drive, as Del pointed out the diff is the easier way to it (or bigger tyres wink )

I'd been thinking about this too as it seems to take a looong time change gear when you're really going for it. (I have LT77 gearbox)

There are these sequential gearboxes that look very interesting, v.pricey, but what are they like to live with on normal roads? and any one ever gone to the trouble of fitting one?

Cheers all

John

I changed my LT77 box to a T5 box out of a tuscan. its not just a matter of box, its bell housing, clutch, speedo senders, speedo + other bits n pieces.

Point is - if you tune it .. it can raise the RMP limit and give a higher top speed using the same gearing.

Was it worth it? truthfully.. If you could get the money back would you spend it on something else?
