Anyone know where they are and what they look like.

I've got 2 second hand Griff Manifolds and one seems to have a honey comb thing in it, and the other does not. are these the pre-cats. and is it ok to remove or are that hazardious.

It's strange only one has this fitted.

Thanks
Leigh

Honeycomb structure filling exhaust 25cm from flanges . . . Use a long masonry bit and get them out. Sod of a job, but many people have done it. Some replace them with non reversal cones, but not necessary in my experience . . .

Yes as Jonno says get rid of the bees nest then fit them to the car resulting in..... biggrin

Approximately 4no Extra HP

Under bonnet temperature reduced noticeably

And a better sounding exhaust note

And what you are doing is Not, i tell thee, against the Law as they are not required for an MOT in this country.

Fantastic Result My Son hehe

At least my support for the English language may be bearing some fruits.... unlike the rugby, cricket, football.... hehe

Is it for the racer - do you need cats at all, do you need the sensor bungs?

Yes it is for the race car, weas just suprized one had one and one did not.

also wanted to make sure the suff is not hazardious (anyone know what it's made off.)

Well Yes and no to the bungs. as don't need them as such, but will be handy for tuning with a WB lambada. sic

I know I can't spell to save my life, if it's a long post I'll pop it into word and do a spell check, but most of the time I can't be arsed. if you not going to reply cos you don't like my spelling, then so be it.

I know you was joking.

Not much point in keeping the original lambda bosses. The wideband sensors are a different size.

Hi Leigh, I removed mine took a bit of elbow grease, but not too difficult. I'm not sure what they are made of but I would strongly recommend wearing a mask. smash

It's probably got platinum and some other precious metals in there - though I doubt there's any commercial value in it. You could always contact your local recycling officer and check?

My manifolds are both off the car at the moment as the body is lifted and I’ve just finished replacing the outriggers!
Before I put them back with the pre-cats still in place, can someone who has done this please tell me –
Is it really just a case of bashing them out with a long drill or a bit of rod?
Do they come away cleanly from the sides or is there lots of bits stuck to the sides after you have finished?
Is result worth it without fitting cones etc?

Many thanks

Look at my previous post for the reasons why..
yes
Took me about half an hour each i found using a small bar with a chisel end a big help.
Sometimes they come out in one lump sometimes you have bits stuck to the side which is easy to remove anyway.
I also used a long drill bit and put several holes in then used one of those large wood drill's,a 32mm to blast into the matrix of the cat.

Get them out you will not regret it i can promise you yes

Removed mine a couple of weeks ago - prior to having the manifolds camcoated. The cats are quite resisilant and left a residue of the cat on the inside of the chamber they live in. I attempted to remove this with a penknife once the main body of the component was removed - not entirely successful. A job for strong wrists, a hammer and in my case, a large flat bladed screwdriver. Just chunk away - took me about 30 mins a side.

Camcoat in the satin black high temp coat looks great, by the way
