When mine got damaged I contacted TVRCarparts and was told there are 4 variants listed for the Serp engine...From what I could make out mostly the variation is in the direction and angle of the top outlet.
So make sure it matches the original. Mine has a curved swan neck that you can't get (new at the time, and none of the breakers had one) so had mine welded up.

I had mine welded but it still leaked as the joint internally couldn’t be cleaned adequately and it left pin holes. I managed to seal these with the super steal version of araldite. If you can get the tank into an ultrasonic cleaner first it might weld better.
The cause I believe is that brass plug gets to tight and force needed to remove it fatigues the weld. I’ve replace mine with a standard brass domestic radiator hex head plug from B&Q (same thread form) and an O ring from the same isle. It has a flat mating face instead of the recess the O ring is squashed between the two faces and seals better on the tank face and doesn’t need to be tight, just nip up. Had mine on for a couple years now and no leaks.
Cheers,
Simon.
