Replacement Boot Strut
Discussion
Thought I'd give something back to the community
If anybody is looking for a replacement gas strut for their bootlid there is no need to spend £20-30 on one from a TVR specialist or the like, what you need is one for the upper tailgate section of a P38 Range Rover.
I picked up one from a local independent Land Rover specialist for the princely sum of £4.80+VAT! The part I bought was from Britpart and was reference ALR1050 though genuine LR items are available from most indys for about £10-12 if you prefer. (Confusingly there was also reference G192285 on the part, which corresponds to ALR1050, which is presumably the original part code? Google ALR1050 works, the other doesn't)
Makes a change to have a boot that doesn't need propping for the last bit of it's travel to get the roof in the boot
ETA: Note re: part numbers.

Nice one Andy.
Are you going on Sunday?
Puesdown I assume? Are you going on Sunday?
Would be but I'm off kart racing in Leicestershire and my Griff is still minus a speedo (not that that alone would deter me
) Obviously I'd be wanting to show off the leather now stuck ON my dash
ETA: How's your new dash going - in yet? Discovered it's much harder to get it back in than to take it out yesterday, reckon it needs two sets of hands
