Windows that work at last !
Discussion
Finally sorted out the wiring improvements for my windows and now they go up and down like a modern car, what a difference !
It took me a while to sort it out, Although there's a couple of posts on here that explain it I found that I didn't quite understand them. Anyway now it sorted and I'm glad I stuck at it.
Running out of improvements to make now, what's next ?
Colin.

I have always wandered if better wiring would make a difference. But gather most improvement comes from lubrication and adjustment. What have you done? Would like to make my drivers side better when the car is back on the road.

Yeh, lubrication etc makes sense (tried that) and I've also read about adjustment of the frame but to be honest the alignments on my car are spot on so I decided to sort out the electrics which is done by using relays and using the original wiring to pull the relays in. Cheap job if a little fidly but well worth it, in fact I'd say of all the improvements I've made to the car it must rate along side having the geo set in terms of value for money.
I've drawn a wiring diagram and made a few notes, copies of which you're welcome to.
Email me if you want to have go at it.

I'll drop mine off at yours for a month or two mate. You can start all over again if you like !

You'd like the wizzy windows, not at all TVR ish any more.
I've changed to white indicators like yours, great improvement.
I'm going to try to get you to the club meet this year if I can.
Tatton this year ?
Colin.
Thanks Colin! Pretty handy myself with electronics. Is the existing wiring just to puny to take the load resulting in a large voltage drop when large current is drawn?
This mod should definitely be on the Griff/Chimaera pages. I know the lubrication and alignment is, but seem to recall the electrical mod was only mentioned?

Can't you post them here Colin? I'm interested as mine need sorting and I'm sure many others will at least contemplate your DIY mod'.Email me if you want to have go at it.

Yes Jon, lightweight wiring I think. This mod should definitely be on the Grim/Chimaera pages. I know the lubrication and alignment is, but seem to recall the electrical mod was only mentioned?

Well worth doing
Colin.
The wiring is much maligned, but I suspect it is more to do with the block connectors suffering from oxidation (damp). Any connections are going to end up this way eventually IMHO - its just a case of cleaning them up and greasing them on reassembly to keep them in good nick. I had to replace loads of pins in mine, and the difference overall is quite surprising.

Not going to debate on here, take your point about connecttions and no doubt on some cars there will be improvements associated with connector blocks etc but not on my Griff, I ruled that out early on.
Happy to help anybody who cares to contact me directly.

I will get to a club meet for sure. Will undoubtedly get up to Oulton a few times too so I'll see you there if not before.

Wish I was going to Lemans again this year, Amy's Uni cost are eating into my toy fund a little, perhaps next year.
I planning to go to Oulton on 19/4, Lee (the guy that bought my RS) is racing.
Give me a call on the mobile if you make it.
