It is defintiely not a Ford item. Mine was sent away to the parts guru's who have pured over it and confirmed it's not a Ford one . .

So that leaves me with the expensive TVR bespoke part cost, ouch cry

The old S was a Saab servo and cylinder, but not the Griffith, tried that as well . .

The guys literaly took it away for 3 days and tried matching it to every master cylinder they had in the warehouse and couldn't find a match . .

There may ba another source coming soon though, so watch this space. I've had to order a new one to be ready for the Emerald set up, but my master cyclinder is off to someone who is going to try and match it up and then be able to supply cheaper hoepfully . . .

Indeed, this is very true, but Ford MC's have a part number stamped along their underside, but there is nothing on these. Also, most o fthe Fords ones are cast, and not pressed tin like this.

The guys thought it may be a Transit one, but checked against all of them and it didn't match any of them . . .

One of the guys was a Ford parts manager snce they brought out the Model T and he couldn't think what it was off . . .

Maybe it is, but no one can work it out yet . .

Hi Guys, just for info, I have used a company in the past called Past Parts.
They are based in Bury St Edmunds, I think.
You send them your old master or wheel cylinder, they measure it, sleeve it with a stainless insert and re rubber it using a size that IS available.
Prices are very reasonable and the staff are very helpful and friendly.

Cheers Roy

They're round the corner from me, and come well recommended.

However, I don't have much luck and with the cylinders still being available I've gone for a new one, if I get the old one back I may have it re-conned as a back up though . .

In the past I have had more luck cutting out the car network and going direct to the cylinder makers like lockheed, girling ect. Get all the numbers on the original to hand and try phoning the technical department.

If you can get the right person there is often somebody who will take an interest in odd challenges.

They can look up every car that was fitted with that part. It may have been supplied to different makers.

Don't overlook clutch cylinders. The sizes of cylinders and the different weights of cars coupled with the different pedal feel requirements can lead to sports car makers using clutch cylinders.

When I was trying to figure what the brake master cylinder was off in my TR6 nobody could figure which brake it was.

Finally I went direct to the maker as above. Austin Maxi 1750 clutch master cylinder was the answer.
