Where did you put your HID lamp ballasts
Discussion
and how did you secure them?
I'm thinking, bolt to the wheelarch and try to waterproof the bolt thread, or velcro to a flat surface inside the wheelarch - probably next to the engine bay. I'm just not sure Velcro will cope with the bouncing around and I don't want the damned thing coming loose because the first thing I'll know about it is when its knackered and the light fails.
And no arguments over the legality or moral obligations to other road users please gentlemen, everyone else can Arse, I need to see where I'm going in my dotage with failing eyesight

Which ones you doing Ian, pod's or main's ?
Mine are all (4 of them) in the cubby hole with the lights. The ones fo rthe pod lights are bolted in their frame through the wheel arch. Very secure, dry, and not subject to any additional heating.
The mains are bolted through the inner wing runner below the horn, and then the holes in to the light pods have become the use fo rthe old inner tubes we had kicking around to keeo the worst of the weather out and still being easily accessible. Simon has made some covers for his which work really well . .

Oops, sorry chaps, I should have mentioned I am putting them into the dipped beams for now as they are the most pathetic. If this works OK (and now I've got them to the car I can't see anything vaguely complicated) I might consider putting them into the driving lamps.
My ballasts come with bolt lugs on the actual ballast box so I think a bolt from the inside, with the nut, washer and bolt thread being liberally coated in sikaflex when I put the access panel back in should do the job shouldn't it. Or should the nut be on the inside?
I'll get a photo of the car with one side done and the other side yet to do - probably tomorrow - and I'll write up the whole job (what there is of it) for The Griffith Pages.
