Use a 74 deg otter switch? Those who do do you find that your fans are on virtually all the time, even when driving.
I've just been out for a run with the laptop hooked up and I was getting temps of 82-88 even on the motorway and it's not a particulaly warm day.

It depends where the otter switch is located I think? The engine seems to pulse hot waves when you press the load pedal, these momentary blasts of hot can trigger the switch. I use one but it is on the bottom of the rad and measures against 'cool' return. I have long advocated the otter switch location at the bottom right of the rad, but was not aware anyone else had done it.

Have you got confused with the 74C deg stat by any chance?

During the summer I do but we change it for an 82 in winter.

Hi Dave, I don't think so. I have the 74 stat fitted, but thought that Levens kit included a 74 otter. I also seem to think V8D fitted a 74 otter in my Chim, could be mistaken though. Cheers
ETA By the way it doesn't take much to confuse me though

I don't think the Leven kit has the 74 stat, something like 80/82. I'm pretty sure Mike had a 74 stat in that car though wink

There is not an otter switch rated 74C to my knowledge, I use a 82-68C switch, but as said its unusually in the rad return. The common lower rated switch is 86-76 version, as opposed to the standardish? 92-82 IIRC.

Mike probably sells good versions of both these items, and will be able to give you top advice, or are you two having a spat?teacher

No not at all. I thought the leven kit had a lower otter switch that's all. I bought a new 74 stat and a 96/87 otter when I had the rad recored, only to find Mike advertising them a day or so later :bugger:
