With the Magna parva insulator and the SC spacer, yes not a problem

I was considering both of these, but in the end I've re-assembled without for the moment. . . Perhaps I'll indulge late wink

Bigrah on here made his own spacer from a nylon chopping board. Bloody Wilco one at that wink

if you want to buy new, then V8 Developments,or Castle Race Engines are a very good place to get a 72mm plenum. They also come up on e-bay quite often as used ones. The magna parva insulator is only 2mm thick,so does not compromise bonnett clearance. You can also make your own insulator from tuffnol,a material that can be bought very cheaply and in just about any thickness on e-bay.I made my own insulator for the manifold to trumpet base for £7(delivered price of some 3mm thick tuffnol),and there was just enough material to make two of them!!If you then wanted to make a plenum spacer(very simple)You could make one to the maximum thickness your bonnet clearance would allow if you liked. To measure how much clearance you have, you just need to close down the bonnett with a piece of plasticine stuck on the highest point of the plenumsmile
Key in 'tuffnol' on e-bay and you'll find the company that sell it.Its best to get the 'carp' grade by the way.

What would you make the plenum spacer in? Would raising the plenum height with a spacer cause problems with the elbow from the AFM?

What tools are needed to cut the Tufnol base's? Was thinking of making a 2mm tufnol insulator to fit between the trumpet base and a 20mm plenum spacer to increase the plenum volume. Thanks for the advice in advance!

Make the plenum spacer in Tuffnol as well,as it's a fabulous insulator. It can easily be worked with normal hole saws, band saws and drills, just like a hardwood really,it machines very nicelysmile

I've been told thats complete urban myth, which, considering asbestos is a banned substance, sounds likely!Perhaps they used to use asbestos to make it years ago?It is a cotton reinforced resin according to the websites i've been looking on,but i've asked the question to the producers,so we'll see.
Obviously it goes without saying that you should always wear a mask when machining materials that create dust!smile
I couldn't see it for sale on e-bay at the moment, but this company sells it here

Things are very different nowyes, this is exactly why asbestos was banned many years ago.I just had my enquiry answered by 'monique' at a company that deals with tufnol.I definately does not contain any asbestos, nor are any other harmful substances created from machining tufnol.it contains no harmful chemicals. As expected, they recommend you wear a mask when machining it to prevent inhalation of dust, just as you would with wood or similar, but thats it smile
If anyone would like a copy of the conversation transcript, then just mail me and i'll forward it.
