Thrown a belt... what damage.
Discussion
Car threw a belt last night doing many leptons....... didn't realise until Welwyn junction last night approx 3 mile on when steam was coming out from all orrifices of the engine bay.....
Stopped cooled the engine down, moved down the road, and repeated until I got home.
what is the potential damage caused and how do I look for it ????
oil pressure was v low when at home, but I think (hope)this was because it was v hot.... refixed belt to help drive car into garage (new one to be sourced).... took some time to start but this probably due to engine bay just being steam cleaned
Ok ... potentially warped heads... how do i check....
and what else ????
I'll be thinking the worse all day so you lot might as make it worse

How far did you drive it without cooling ?
The issue beign that the water pump wasn't circulating, and you may have localised overheating which may have caused issues.
Check for mayonaisse in the oil filler cap, if none at all I wouldn't worry about warped heads at this stage . .. Maybe later if a head gaske fails . ..
Gut feel though is it'll be fine. I would get new belt, change coolant and oil, then start and check on oil pressure. Then ongoing checks . .
Likely it won't demonstrate issues until later on though . .

There's a very good chance that you've blown the head gasket and/or warped the heads. Look out for coolant loss, overheating problems, any oil in the coolant, recurring water in the oil, if you get any other symptoms consider getting a block test done. The damage may not show up for a few weeks, maybe even months.
