Has anyone transplanted a set of Estorils on a pre cat previously fitted with the Camille Gotti’s ? Will the Estorils (being wider) cause on body contact on lock or are the pre cat and 500’s the same chassis / body ?

Well, I should have turned the wheel while it was on the jack. Seems obvious now, but at the time I was more focused on the calipers.

Estorils are only 7" front and 7.5" rear. I wasn't aware the Griffs had ever had narrower rims fitted so I cannot understand why you think that there might be a problem.

I ask because the Estorils fronts appear to carry 225 tyres whilst the Camille Gotti’s appear to be fitted with 205 tyres (least, those that I’ve seen) – hence it suggested to me that the Estorils were a wider wheel and that, before fitting to a pre cat (that has the 205) I'd better check then inner wings were the same clearences.

205s tend to fitted to non PAS cars whilst 225s are fiited to cars with PAS. No difference to wheel arches or any other clearances. Only significant differences between earlier and later cars are the front ends around the grill/radiator opening.

Wind resistance ? yeah right, like I get a chance to experience wind resistance, given there’s normally a (allegedly standard) silver 500 insistent on being in front of me driven by a Henri Paul mindset all I tend to get is the aroma of after burned Brut 33 and ash blond hair dye – and no, before you ask, the last point wasn’t referring to Mrs Seasider.

I fitted a set of 500 estorils with 225 tyres to my pre-cat 400 and haven't had any issues at all smile

Likewise here.
In fact it improved things greatly, making the front a bit less fidgety.

Right, thanks for the replies and thanks Derek for lettnig me borrow a wheel to check me extra big caliper clearence. Unfortunately Quinny, I'm keeping the Gotti's which I'm putting in for refurb.
