I would say that the main problem will be deminishing availability of standard factory fit wheels as time proceeds.

Or suitable tyres in a 15" size. I have them on my Griff and at first I wasnt sure, now the ride hight is sorted they look great. They are less visually forgiving of gappy archs than Estorils, lower tyre side walls and more wheel I guess, will post pics later.

Call him - make an offer. I doubt he'd drop £5,000 but it's worth every penny.

Hi HotMetal,

Are you thinking of geting SP12's? I can send you some pics too if you like (I know it helps to see what they look like on a car), not sure how to post them here though, doh!

I spent ages last year looking into replacement wheels due to the lack of suitable 15" tyres even back then. Eventually went for the SP12's which although more expensive than some aftermarket ones (think Scoule has these in their original AfterMarket form) these were at least setup with the correct offsets etc. Having changed and uprated my suspension - thanks to Jules at TrackCar - it seemed a shame to then upset the setup with poorly setup wheels.

Griff wheels are difficult to get in the correct size because not only are they different diameter rims (15"/16") but the widths are different and also the offsets are different. The SP12's match all the correct but in 17"/18" form. Despite the larger size, the weight is no different due to a lighter alloy so that's another bonus. They are a quality wheel and they do look great....not 100% sure if they are better looking, just different but in a good way. I am pleased with them though smile

There are a few tips regarding fitting the centre caps but again they look good and come with the TVR logo. Thanks to Matt at SP!

Yes this is one area I was less happy with, as they are ment to be designed for the car you shouldn’t have to cut the end of the drive shafts off to get the caps on. Its not difficult to do with the right tools but they should be a straight swap and would be far more professional if the cap was custom made.

Don’t get the offset argument. You can buy the Team Dynamics wheel ( same wheel ) from Halfords with the original factory offset. I paid about £100 each for 17s and didn’t need to mod the hubs, they just bolt on.

So, what is the complete specifications?

Offset, wheel size's, the lot.

All the numbers needed to buy a set of wheels of your choice without problems. I mean not needing to put limits on the steering lock. Just a straight forward bolt on wheel change.

Maybe a list of what the maximum size brake conversion that will fit with each.

If all that info could be put into a handy table, it would be a useful addition to the Griffith Pages.

With the trouble getting tyres in 15" people will want to buy new wheels, but want to know that it won't cause issues when they want to buy a big brake conversion later.

The wheel size and offset is normally stamped on the wheel, usually on the inside, just pop the wheels off and take a look. Will be something like 7x15 et25.

Deciding the rim size has to be done along with choosing the tyre. Different tyres specify different optimum rim sizes and in addition to avoid rubbing problems it is worth noting the overall tyre width, this can vary from one manufacturer to another for the same size (basically they stick out a bit more or a bit less) . Dimensions and optimum rim size lists can be found on most tyre manufacturers web sites. If you want to go for a 17inch rim for example and keep the same rolling diameter you may need to fit a slightly wider but lower profile tyre to get the same diameter. My original fronts were 205/55/15 but to get the same diameter on a 17 rim I have from memory 225/45/17. A 225 is happier on a 7.5 rim rather than a 7. As you can see it needs a bit of thought.
