Hi all

I'm having to replace a few things round the back end, drive shafts etc but foraging around I see my diff is starting to leak from the propshaft input...is it possible to replace this oil seal in the diff without specialist help? Trevor Clever has them listed but do not want to buy if I need to get this done by someone else...diff is fine otherwise, no noise etc...

All the best

John

Yes - it's easy enough with the diff on the bench. No special tools required. smile

Would you reckon it could be done with the diff in situ....? I have the car on axle stands at the mo...hopefully not too much longer with this sunshine!

Cheers

I've tackled this job in situ on a couple of cars but not my griff, on the others its easy enough, the only thing to watch is that some diffs have a collasping spacer to set the pinion preload. So as a precaution count the number of turns it take to remove the drive flange nut and having prised the old seal out and replaced then enusre the nut goes back with the same number of turns.
