Have one of these beauties fitted to 500.

Question is this (bit of an eleccy numpty): can I completely disconnect the otter switch, it seems redundant but is still wired up and works (or so it seems)?

Must admit, have much more faith in the approximate temps on the modwise unit having used a gun to check em out....think I need a new temp sender also-as with most tvr guages, its not exactly, er, accurate!!

Cheers all,

Dave.

My kit is one of the early ones and is attached to the otter switch by 1 wire with the other wire coming from a spur off the loom near the water pump.

This means the kit is actually only a half speed kit. It fires up the fans at half speed at a temperature set by the dial, and the otter switch fires them into full life. If memory serves me right that is.

Ahh. Mine is a two speed-maybe I need to email D. Beer......just dont want to bother him with trivia, really, as I realise its a hobby thing. Just trying to keep things tidy in my bay.....like I said, superb kit.

Cheers all.

Looks to be a similar set up to mine (2xcontrollers, like yours, Q......) However, it appears that my fans kick in courtesy of the otter switch, to my mind a little too early? The otter really is located in the wrong place, with an awful lot of heat generated from both engine and exhaust. In fact, thinking of wrapping that particuler section below it in some heat reflecting type stuff, if you understand my garbled English.....

The MW kit does work, BTW, doh!

Dave.

You can disconnect the otter switch, its only connected just in case you adjust the stats too high. You will need the single connector to the female at the otter.
