Hopefully a simple query.

Anyone know the best place to source a Clutch Cable for a Griff 500 ('97). Not got any listed on sites like TVR Car Parts so thought I'd ask the question here first before spending half the weekend on the phone trying to source one.

Thanks folks,

Thanks guys, guess I'll dig out the bible and get some background on how it works then. I knew it was hydraulic with the clutch reservoir being in the wing but assumed there was still a cable somewhere in the mechanism from the pedal?

I'm basically getting a noise that sounds just like a cable snagging when you depresh the clutch. Not unlike the sound from a worm accelerator cable (I've had a couple of those go). That kind of metallic stretching / creaking from a frayed cable type noise.

Thanks for the pointers though, need to go look into it further....

Probably the pedal return spring, might be worth giving it a light greasing or possibly change it if it's looking a bit rusty. Don't want it snapping.

Head down the footwell job.

Have you got a big hole in the bell housing, if so a careful squirt (avoiding the cover) with WD40 on the release mechanism should fix it. Mine has said big hole and after a particularly damp drive it gets all squeaky and pedal feels juddery the next day, soon sorted with a squirt though.

Keep meaning to block the hole up……

Cheers,

Simon.

Apart from the noise does the clutch allow the gears to be selected without any difficulty.

Thanks for the input smile

The noise sounds like it's coming from outside the car rather than inside. However, I'll assume the graceful 'bum in air' position into the footwell and have a check under there anyway.

Not sure about an access hole in the bell housing? To be honest, the pedal doesn't feel sticky and the gear-change is still normal so its all working OK.

Will give these things a check when I have some time at the weekend though so appreciate the ideas!

Hasn’t any difference in gear selection, although the box on mine has always been a bit stiff compared to others I’ve tried.
