I have just bought a 1993 griff and I can't get the electric windows to open.I am sure that I had left the windows open and went off to do something and on my return the windows were shut and now don't work. The car runs a meta alarm system.Has anyone got any ideas,as it gets a bit warm in there!

Does it have auto closing, ie press blipper and they close ? If so probably gone wrong, as its the last of the power cicuit. Not sure if was an option in that year but my 99 had it. As usual, check fuses etc.

If the Grif is the same as the chim its probably just a loose connection. My drivers window does this every now and then on the chim. Its an easy fix - remove the door speaker and the window motor connection is right behind it. I just have to pop the connector off clean the contacts and pop back on. Takes about 10 seconds.

The windows on mine work without the ignition turned on, so not an function of the alarm/imobilser.

A loose connection is probably the culprit, either at the window motor, or the back of the switch.

Thanks for your help have tried all the connectors, fuse and all that is accessable without any luck. The fact that neither window will open or close, and the heater,a griffith 500 upgrade, seems a bit dodgy,I have bitten the bullet and booked the car into Lucas, reckon probably an earth problem. The alternator makes funny noises when I switch off the ignition so good opportunity to get this checked out at the same time!Once again many thanks with your help will keep you posted!
