We have sort of been here before so a search may reveal some info. However if you take off your existing wheels they usually have the size and offset stamped on them, something like 7x15 et, 25 et being the offset which is different front and back. Rather than just looking for a set of wheels you also need to decide what rubber you plan to fit as that will effect the rim width and offset you need. Usually Griffs had 7x15 front and 7.5x16 rear. The PCD is as per Ford but I don’t think you will find a set of ford rims that are wide enough. The rears at 7.5 were not ideal for the 245 rubber, which normally specifies 8 or 8.5 rims. The rim width is more important with lower profile rubber.
The main problem isn't the stud pattern, but the offset. Any suitable Ford 4 stud wheel will match the bolt pattern, but it might be mounted too far inside the wheel arch. Most wheels for FWD applications are unsuitable for RWD as the offset is greater, hence the sparsity of choice for TVR owners. You can get round this to a degree by using spacers, but that just stresses the wheel studs more (you may need longer ones too). Not advisable IMHO.
When I was looking for wheels, I found the biggest problem was finding 17" rims wider then 7j and not the hole pattern (offsets easily over come with spacers). As stated above ideally you want 8j or wider rears for the lower profile 235/245 rubber.

You could do a lot worse than talking to the helpful team at Silverstone Performance: http://www.silverstoneperformance.co.uk/

hi everyone i was thinking along the lines of fronts 225/45.18 and 245/45/18 rear is that right or have i got to drop the tyre size lower again ie225/35/18 245/35/18 any advice is most welcome. as once i have the size i can go four i can set about looking for them .thanks paul
I should try before you buy - that is try and drive a Griff (or Chimaera) with 18 inch and 35 aspect ratio tyres. You may be completely smitten, but in MVHO you will find the ride will shake your fillings and it may well be a handful keeping it from tracking the camber changes. The suspension and ride compliance relies upon 45/50 ratio tyres not 35 !!.
Also check fouling of body work if you don't get the correct ET (offset).
Buyer beware. (not trying to be a kill-joy either!!)

Compomotive do Griff fitment wheels off the shelf
Just to add my very short experience with these cars, only just picked up my car on sat,and initial impressions are with the non standard 16" wheels fitted its rough over anything other than smooth ground.... still not completly clear as to what origins the wheels are,but the are stamped up as HSR Racing items,no offsets shown, but they are wrong as there has to be spacers fitted front and rear in order for them to fit the car, they are 7J in width all round, and 225/45/16 bridgstone so3 on the front, and 245/45/16 bridgstone so2 on the back, look very much like sp12 items,...... from the above postings the rear is too wide a section for the rim width, and i think 225/45 on the front is too large for a car with non pas fitted, although its less of an effort at slow speed parking than i thought it would be.... going to 18"s might well look the biz,but the ride might well be awefull..

Griffs are normally 1" smaller on the front. IIRC I've got 215/40/17 on the front and 265/35/18 on the rear.HRG said:

Paul: standard rear offset is an inch and a quarter. Standard Ford fitment is a 3" square which is approx 108mm PCD. Wheels have a mounting offset from their centreline known as ET (German = Einpress Tiefe, literally meaning "push in depth")
Hi ,paul again reading everything thats been said ithink 17/225/45 fronts 245/18/35 rears are the wayto go i am now going to print all info and take with me when i go shopping ,got few places to phone and see like to thankyou all again.as i prob, would have made huge mistake without your input thanks paul

I hesitate to say this but I would think twice about those fronts: 1) they are 1/2" larger rolling rad than standard - will they scrub/what height is your suspension? 2) they are a larger rolling radius than the rear whereas standard is an 7/8" smaller. The 215/40/17 is near enough spot on in these respects :-)
Hi JR. my ride height is adjustable as is my shocks i will do as you say as i am not the most up to date guy when it comes to wheels tyres size GEO, etc i can understand now why there are not s0 many wheel choices its a shame as if you have a normal run of th mill car there seems to loads to pick from thanks paul

I have "ET35" cast into the standard Estorils on my Griff. This is just under 1.4", so did TVR "adjust" the Estorils in the factory and not mill off the stamp, or was your 1.25" measurement an approximation? It's a serious question, not just nitpicking. I'm in need of some cheap trackday wheels, and the Ford parts bin looks a good option...

It's inch and three eights (or 35mm) The three inch square PCD is exact :-)
As mentioned above the ET is the biggest problem with the Ford parts bin, (although you can fit spacers) and a wider rear is preferable. At a wild guess I'd say Sierra Cosworth or X-type Jag (I have no idea whether all the dims of these Ford wheels are OK.)
