I have the unenviable task of having to replace my blower fan and in the absence of my SH bible which is on order would really appreciate any, i mean any advice or tips / watch out for this etc.

Does the headlight unit simply cut out once the nut is undone through the access flap in the arch, and is it easy to get a good finish when you put the unit back in?

Anyone know what car the fan is off Sierra? or what should I replace it with , have a good scrap yard local fairly good with my hands so don't mind fabricating a little.

I believe the blower fan goes through a relay , are any known issues with the wiring circuit.

I have taken a couple of days holiday to get this sorted.
Thanks in advance

I might be wrong but I seem to remember Dave Skelly posted a whole scenario about this and an upgrade too on the Griff Pages forum.

Whether or not you will need to take your headlight out will depend on what Griff you have,i think.I'm pretty certain the pre cats have the blower near the headlight, but on the 500's it's in the inner wing on the n/side,in the footwell?I think the pre-cat fan is a Vauxhall Nova, from memory, but havent heard what the 500 fan is from,if it's different?

Precat fan is Vauxhall Nova as AJP says, tape around the headlamp to protect the paint and then use a sharp craft knife to slice the sealant.
Dont think the heater fan is controlled by a relay, there are three resistors on the motor which give speed differences.
This was the very first job I did on my precat , its not that bad really.

Apology. Dave Skelly wrote a good article on the Wedge pages regarding re veneering the walnut fascias. I got confused because Dave had told me how he modified his heater blower and trunking etc in his 4.3 pre-cat Griff. Now of course, you're really wanting to talk to him. If you email me seanpepper at gmail dot com I will give you his mobile number. He's an old mate, so shouldn't be a problem.

As for the headlight re-fitting, if you can mastic a bath and it looks good then you can easily do it. If your bath masticing is crap, get a friend to do it.

Easy enough if you take your time.
