During a slalom session on the Keevil Driver's Instruction Day my fuel gauge packed up - shows empty.
Haven't even checked the fuse yet, but any other likely cause? It was suggested that all the to-ing and fro-ing may've upset the float ...

ETA. Just read the bible - doesn't appear to be fused. redface

Have you filled up since it stuck LG?

Try brimming it and it could unstick if that is all it is.

I effectively tried that - though maybe not well enough. Someone suggested that at the track so I brimmed it at the lunchbreak, but it was about 3/4 full. Maybe If I let it get right down (risky with no gauge) it will give it a greater nudge ... scratchchin

Certainly a possibility Ant. It was a great laugh.
I'll check the wiring at the sender tomorrow - it's at the top right of the tank looking into the boot isn't it?

Thanks. thumbup Glad I asked.
The bible doesn't mention that - at least in the quick skim earlier - I'll read it properly tomorrow.

LG, I believe the original alarm made the fuel guage show empty unless correctly disarmed, to fool a thief. Could be worth bearing in mind?

Otherwise check the wiring (!). The precat sender is low down on the left hand side. Impossible to withdraw with the tank in situ unfortunately. Check the connections here, and on the back of the guage. The wires may (I can't remember) run through the connector blocks hidden behind the carpeted void by the door locks. Might also be worth checking these.

Aha! Diagnosed as a faulty sender - hadn't gotten around to replacing it.

Today - Huzzah! It works. Like many things TVR, just leave it long enough and it'll fix itself. Result.

Hmmm sorry to say Ian , but dont think it will last.
Mine wasnt working after the rebuild, then it was, then it wasnt, then it was, then it wasnt, then it was, then it wasnt, then it was, then it wasnt, then it was, then it wasnt,
Err you get the picture.

Good news is they are available, TVRcarparts IIRC, it the same as the one for an S. Only you have to change the rod and float for your original one. More good news, its not a tank out job!
