Need a new rad & usual debate in my head of std v alloy.

Has anyone had corrosion issues with an aluminium radiator long term ? I'm guessing they are laquered but this will chip. Or are they coated at all ? They are designed for race use and as circuits dont get salted !

Just get your old one recored with a larger copper core, it's cheaper than a replacement standard radiator and about half the price of an alloy one.

Ive just had my rad recorred, standard, with samco hoses, new lower temp thermostat and lower temp otter stitch, brilliant, if anything probably runs a bit cool.

Another vote for re-coring the standard rad here; if the rest of the system is OK it's more than capable of cooling the car perfectly. And so much cheaper, which has to be as good a reason as any.

I have an 82deg thermostat and fans come on 50% at 88deg, 100% at 92deg. I've hardly ever had them come on at 100% even in south of France traffic jams in 35+deg sunshine. Although I do have pretty ginormous fans it must be said.
