...looks like it may be a thermistor but for what ?

I ask because it looks like it should be strapped to the cooling hose on the top of the water pump. Can't see it in the Bible.

It looks like just a crimp joiner or a resistor to calibrate the temp sensor. Does it go to the sensor in the background?

Yes it does go to the sensor. So it's prob' just a resistor and don't need to be strapped to the hose you think ?

I'll have a look next time I'm in the garage but it's nothing obvious like ohms etc..
