I had the pleasure of watching my pre cat Griff being driven whilst following behind last weekend (in my bro's Clio 182 which was good fun...albeit took a while to realise the car only got going at 6k revs!) and I was a little bemused at what a good impression my Griff was making of a london bus/taxi! i.e crappy puffs of blackish smoke coming out when it was being driven hard and also on some down changes at lower speeds. Now I have had it on the rollers at Austec and apparently it's in fine shape and I did just top it up with oil that morning which may have made it a bit worse... so presume that's got to be expected for a car with no cat converters?

That could be as simple as the CO setting on the AFM being out, as this overfuels the engine as the revs drop. I would not follow the procedure of simply setting the DC voltage as on the RPI site, but get someone with a co/ gas analyser to do a reading whilst tweeking the setting to get the CO down to about 2% on idle. My car is well below 1 volt when the reading is correct.

Thanks Mark...I'm off next week to get something else sorted on my car so will ask them to check the above too. Much appreciated

Mine was obviously too clean at the front at Chatsworth, so Flip Flops pre cat kindly covered the plate and lights with black muck, perhaps they all do it?

Kicks out loads of carbon bits mainly upon start up - don't stand behind one as it is a nightmare to get off anything. Left a large sani box behind it once I took out the boot and it got splattered - been in the dishwasher about 20 times since and the black marks are still there.

Pre-flight checks;
1. Start car, pull out garage and leave running to warm up.
2. pop open boot and remove roof panel.
3. Place roof panel in boot - getting quick at this now smile
4. Go back indoors to change into a clean pair of chino's...Grrrr! nearly 5 yrs and I still make that mistake.

At a show once a visitor asked me to 'rev it up a bit'. I did and he promptly got spotted trousers!
