My Griff is a death trap!
Discussion
Just taken the Griff for its MOT. A few things were not as they should be:
1. It turns out that number plate lights are important for some reason. I don't know why.
2. Side lights are similarly important, despite them having the impression of being agitated glow worms.
3. Rose jointed droplinks shouldn't be sloppy and rattly. (I'm not getting at Mr Heath - my driving style can be described as "enthusiatic", and the car is used for autotesting & general hooning on more-or-less unmaintained roads.)
4. Asphyxiating the MOT tester with unburned hydrocarbons is considered "bad" for some reason.
Not too bad so far - they'll all be fixed and retested as soon as the test centre opens again on Monday.
The real problems however do not cause the car to fail, and need not be rectified.
It turns out that my PAS rack no longer assists anything at all. No wonder I am developing arms like Popeye...
And the brake servo doesn't work. I somehow failed to notice this for at least the past 6 months. (Not a failure because I had to tell the tester there was a servo when he complained that TVR were daft to not fit one!) Apparently such devices are quite useful in helping cars to stop - and I should let the moths out of my wallet for this. BTW what Ford does the servo come from?

It's funny isn't it?
I live in fear of my Griff failing on headlamp aim. Such a trivial thing - such a PITA to adjust!
A couple of years ago, the tester said "Your headlamps are just a little too low...are they easy to adjust?". I leant heavily on the bootlid, and that did the trick...
Hope you get it sorted for the retest OK, Dave.
