Finaly got round to sorting out my leaky window today, the glass dosent reach the top of the Aluminium door glass support at the front so there is a gap between the window and the seal. Got the door card off, had to inlist my wife to get the final nut off, found the top bolt that holds the central guide runner had fallen out, refitted it, and adjusted the window as much as possible. Still unable to get it to the top of the aluminium support. It would seem the support is too high, not the glass to low. Measuring it against the passanger door, there is a clear gap where it meets the door itself. Cant seem to see anyway to adust it or indeed remove it, looks like its part of the main front channel that goes to the bottom of the door, any ideas?

The glass support channel has two holes that fix to the winder mechanism. Elongating the front hole (crudely done at Bristol Ave also)should give you a little more lift. That said, I found elongating both holes helped to balance up the level of closure along the top edge of the glass to rubber seal on the roof panel. I didn't find this adjustment to be as critical as getting the glass to lift high enough so as when the door closes the glass allows the roof mounted sealing rubber to pop over the top of the glass.

To get more lift there is an adjuster screw on top of the winder mech positioned more or less vertical about halfway along the top of the door. It's accessed from behind the glass (glass down) and in front of the inside door seal, using a thin flat blade driver. Giving more lift should get you to the top of the support. The trick then is to get the level of the glass right so it does as I described above. In other words, get the lift somewhere close, then think about elongating the holes if need be. The two reference points are the top of the support and that sealing rubber along the roof. Good luck. Took me god knows how many times with the glass in and out of the door to get it good.

Excellent, I messed around with the rear mounting hole that had as you say already been butchered, didnt think about slotting the fron one which does make sense. Will attempt it after the weekend.

Hope this helps some more. I didn't find slotting the rear most hole helped at all. In fact I gave up after doing so and replaced the channel piece with the old one, as I slotted it so much I wasn't confident the 6mm bolts would hold it. There's little room to use larger diameter flat washers so the bolt head is at risk of pulling through the bracket. I ended up using another bracket and concentrated my efforts on the front hole more, and just fettled the rear hole slightly. My problem sounded like yours. I couldn't get enough lift at the front edge of the glass. Looking at the bracket it looked a simple job to elongate the rear hole and allow the glass to drop back a little. Trouble is, it doesn't drop back far enough because the leading edge of the glass is butt up to the support channel. I found more movement available by slotting the front hole more, and getting the height correct by using the adjuster screw.
