If you haven't already discovered this new D.I.Y painting system log on to www.hammeritemetalmaster.co.uk This looks as if it would be ideal for painting outrigger tubes parts of which are out of reach of a paintbrush. Would be interested to hear if anyone has used this method.

Hi Hedgehopper,

Just bought the hammeritemetalmaster and tried on my railings.

The result is so poor that I am having to go over it again with another coat using a paint brush hoping that it will cover the poor result so far.

The idea is great in theory but in practice it is very poor.

Do not waste your time on this product.

I am surprised hammerite who have such a good reputation would allow such a poor product onto the market.

A bit off topic but I have used Hammerite smooth aerosol for years on mild steel and been very pleased with it. Recentally had a can that didn’t set, even after week it was still tacky. Assumed it was a duff can and got some more from another supplier and found the same, rumour has it that they have changed the base solvent recently. Would be interested to know if anybody else has found the same. In a couple of weeks I will be doing the annual chassis clean, paint and waxol but am a bit nervous of using the usual Hammerite if the brush on stuff has the same problem.

Would the fact that the railings are effectively earthed stop the electrical effect working here?
