Any ideas how the door panel comes off on the drivers door. The drivers side wing mirror won't adjust left or right, but still goes up and down. Passenger side is fine. Any ideas what is causing the mirror not to move left or right?

Probably a knackered motor in the mirror. But could be a bad connection in the mirror control circuit.

To get the door panel off:

Remove the door speaker.
There are 3 6mm (10mm socket) retaining nuts
1 to the left of the speaker hole. 1 either side of the door pull handle, these arent easy to get to , (hope you dont have big arms).
Remove the screw from behind the ash tray.
Remove the screws holding the rear door trim reflector.

The panel should now lift up and away.

Pah,

I'd read all these horror stories about GRP rash all the way up your arm and how much of a bugger the job was. Tosh I say, Tosh!wink

Remove your speaker
Undo the screws holding the reflector, seen in this picture to the left of the word GREY

Then undo the screw behind the ashtray, and the bolts highlighted with yellow tape in this picture

Robert's your dads brother.

Putting it back on was a different story though.
Getting the lip at the top of the door card over the edge of the door was a complete pig, so watch how you have to wiggle yours to get it off because it may help when you come to put it back on.

Having said all that, my sincere thanks go to Antonyj for his help when I was doing this for the first time. thumbup

If there's no ashtray ( I don't have one) is there no screw at the top of the door or is it fastened someother way?

I can see how it is possible to undo the nut nearest the switch's, but how do you get to the one further away, the other side of the door handle?

There isn't a bolt up there if htere is no ashtray. The top of th ecard is hooked over the inner door panel.

Before you dismantle the door panel, I would suggest you remove the glass from the mirror first (flat blade screwdriver slid under glass then slide release clip sideways) and check that the nylon connecting rod is attached to the stepper motor drive wheel as they can often pop off.
