I've been having trouble starting my car over the last two weeks mainly due to new ECU fitted, during the process of repeated attempted starting, I've flattened the battery more than once but also think I have damaged the starter motor.
My question is could I have damaged the motor as now even with a brand new battery the car will only turn over at half the normal speed.

Obvious answer to most of you probably.

Got a brand new battery exactly the same as the old one

550 starting amps, which I know is a little low
used to turn fine until I went through this current mod and tried to start her

Defiantly sounds like it then hehe

You can test the starter by putting a fluke (voltmeter) negative to the battery and one on the starter, see what your getting there at turnover should be around the 12 volts maybe a bit lower, feel the cables as well if there getting real hot the starter maybe be trying to draw to much current ...which can also be tested with an ammeter
