Hi I have a standard Griff 500 apart from a V8 developments Cam, Saw these guys at the growl on Saturday, Im seriously thinking of buying the kit but just wondered if anyone has experience of it?. Dont want to spend shed loads on an Emerald so I guess this is the next best thing. Any advice would be appreciated.

Just had the mod done and have gained 34hp and the torque is up by 70 pounds feet. The car runs much smoother and feels much quicker mid range. Very pleased with Eanns mod and tweeking. Will be doing a write up for it soon. Many thanks to Eann and Crazy horses for all your hard work.

Are you sure you haven't in the process corrected some horrendous fuelling problem which has netted the gains? ie your car was 70lb.ft down on what it should have been anyway and the kit just put it back to where it ought to be or a slight improvement over std? Typically by getting rid of the AFM and having full rein over mapping the fuel AND ignition I typically see no more than 20lb.ft improvements on an otherwise healthy car with no faults. What exactly is in the replacement AFM? a nitrous kit?

Or maybe these problems are all down to faulty/worn AFMs reading between the lines.

I'm very interested in this mod as well, but it was tested on a Griff 500 only running 245bhp then 274bhp! I thought the average bhp for griff 500 is 265bhp, so a 10bhp gain would seem more accurate. If it gains of around 20bhp on my 290bhp engine,i would be very interested. Be nice to hear other customers views.

I was told by eann that you would expect 10 bhp more and smoother running also a gain of 5mpg

From what I saw of the kit at the growl its a replacement AFM with a 3" bore
Exchange plenum with Ø72 throttle
Adjustable fuel reg on the 500 kit

The body is a plain ally tube with the hotwire sensor mounted into the airstream and electronics into a box on the side of the tube.

From what they were doing I'd have said they can tailor the output signal of the new AFM so it feeds a higher than usual signal into the ECU and corrects the fuelling.

The resizing of the plunum/throttle assy is certainly done nicely and does seem to take that part to it's max potential. Some nifty 'elbows' on the stand too. Both of more interest to me than the AFM replacement but interesting to watch the fine tuning in progress through Logworks on their lappie... must have a play with that software smile

My totally bog standard Griff 500 (I'm the original owner, so I know noone else has done anything to it)

It made 276.8 bhp 335ft/lb on the griff growl rolling road.
Another griff 500 also dead standard made near identical bhp 276.9.

Both 98/99 cars, so supposedly detuned a bit from the earlier ones. (tvr 340 -to 320) These were the highest Standard Griff of any age.

I'd check everything is working as it should be, before spending £'s getting upgrades and only getting it back to where it could/should be.

The 2 figures above were more than quite a few 'modified' griff 500's

I could only get a tank of 95oct on the way up. left early morning and tank dead empty...

Wonder if a tankful of tesco finest 99oct would have made any/much difference? wink

Pssible subjective, but I put a tank of this in once and actually thought it made a noticeable difference.

I guess the rolling roaders/tuners could answer that one.

B

actually they are supposed to run on super unleaded 97 ron, so it must make a few bhp difference. less or more 95/97/99
