Can anyone recommend from personal experience which is best for my standard 92 4.3 Griff? Bible states it can be run unmodified on Super-Unleaded, or in some cases de-tuned to run on Premium-Unleaded ?????. No local Shell garage so Optimax is not an option

Super. There should be a sticker next to the petrol cap that says it. My 4.3 loves it - can't drink it quick enough.

Both my 4.0 and 500 get fed the ordinary stuff. I asked the 500 to be checked at the last service in this respect, pinking etc, and they said it was fine. Mind you if I was a trackday fiend it might be different - I don't explore the rev limiter as a rule.

My 4.3 runs quite happily on anything but I do try to put Optimax in. If I can't find that then I normally go with the lower octane stuff. I don't really notice any difference and it doesn't pink with anything I've tried.

I have tried both shell premium and Optimax on my 1992 4ltr and there is no difference in performance or MPG
