I'm not a big fan of car covers so I'll pass on that but I'd suggest an Accumate here

Is your car to be kept in a garage or outdoors? my car is kept out and I'm currently using a 'Coverzone' (monsoon I think). I've had several covers but like this un best.

As for the trickle charger, I use a Halfords battery charger (the black un with the carry handle; about £30). It switches over to maintenance when the battery is toppers. I adapted mine to charge through the fag lighter socket. Been problem free for a coupla years now.

All you need in the way of a charger is one that is regulated, so it never allows the battery to gas. Even the most basic electronics can do this now, so even a small 12 volt motor cycle battery charger will do, just to keep it topped up. You can go through various fancy charge cycles, but wether the increase in battery life will ever pay for the extra cost of the charger is somewhat doubfull. The super market chain lidl do a nice little motor bike bike charger for about £6 once in a while ( when they do bike specials) that work a treat. Completely useless for rapidly charging a flat battery however. Same one here:
