That Mr Clive F's Fancy Y Piece - Installed
Discussion
After a successful sealed auction bid at the Growl, the infamous Clive F's Y piece now adorns the Mighty Moose.
Is now a proper 5Ltr Pre-Cat
Cheers for putting it up for grabs Clive, what a generous chap you are.
I even managed to fit it without any instructions

Yes without a doubt a super bit of kit is that Fordy
This is what you have to look forward too when the Heat Treatment has finished Moose

Nice one Moose ! You changed the tune resistor yet ?

Pasco
On the pisture you show I have a couple of questions.
Under the throttle housing is that an atmosphere filter for the rear n/s rocker breather which is normally and little plastic mushroom ?
Also, what's pipe work coming over the alternator side and down to the front, is that an oil cooler set up ?

The main body of the pipe normally sits over the chassis rails and the auxillary small bore pipe for the heater matrix actually points downwards rather up at the exhaust ?
Or is yours the way it should be and either miness unique, I've found abetter way or more likely mines totally wrong

Question one is part of the idle control valve breather

Question Two is the water pipes to an experiment i tried over the winter namely fitting a Kenlowe hot start
which will be fitted in a more of a permanent way over winter.TBH I have no idea why the Speed Six guys don't use them

(remember where you heard it first
)It warms my coolant upto 70 odd deg and as a result saves me a fortune in fuel and stops the initial engine warm up ware.
I just plug it in 30 mins before i go for a run johno

I'm presuming the set up on yours fits into the heater matrix circuit between the static pipework and inlet manifold inlet ?
Also, did the engine need that much breathing, trying to understand the need for such a significant upgrade in pipesize as the orginal hole is only about 3-4mm and even less through the muchroom. . . It may help me with something else . . .
Quite fancy designing a heater system could fit and remove when needed rather than permanently in residence as I've tried to remove as much wiring and pipework as is practicable from my engine bay, but appreciate the benefits of these systems.

So to conclude of the coolant pipe issue, without trying to sound like we all know better, all being as diplomatic as we can, yours is not installed correctly MH.
Nothing to panic over, far from it, just if you're changing the coolant it may be an idea to swap the position round so the heater matrix pipe doesn't get so close to the manifolds.

Thank you folks for all pointing out the error of my waysNothing to panic over, far from it, just if you're changing the coolant it may be an idea to swap the position round so the heater matrix pipe doesn't get so close to the manifolds.
I blame the engine buider...d'oh that'll be me then
I will have a look at it when I get home, but there is a chance that as my car is a hybrid one of kind special edition (ie a Pre-Cat 5 Serp 5 Ltr) that it's a mis-mash of bits chucked together and this is the only way it fits together.
I was kinda expecting a comment or two on some element of my engine bay, but wasn't expecting to have my thunder stolen so soon by Pasco and my engineering prowess brought into question by all and sundry
I'm all sad now
