I have just received the Leven Alloy gear lever surround, however im now in two minds about fitting it!! Im worried it might look a little too much Max Power!!! Also I did not know that you would have to drill/cut the center console in order to get the screws through that hold the two pieces together. In other words once its fitted these no going back!! A little worrying especially if you don;t like it when its fitted! Has anyone got this already and what r your thoughts. Happy with it?? Should I or Shouldn't I??

Not for me, I don't think that area of the trim needs any more "finishing"...

I quite like it, I just think £50 is a lot or I'd have done it.

Why not try it with a dry fit held with some blu-tac or something and see if you still like it after a few miles?

yikes No no you don't have to cut or drill the console. I've got one, they help to keep heat and engine smells out of the car and and I think they finish off the gear surround in classic not chave style.

How did you manage to fit yours without drilling holes for the bolts to pass through?

I bet you could use some of that double sided trim tape to hold the surround in place, and if you really wanted to you could cut the heads of the bolts off and silicone them in place?

We've got one on Wol and I think it finishes the tunnel/dashboard area nicely.

With the bolts all in place and offering the surround up to the console, at least 3 bolts will not clear the opening no matter how it is positioned. its this what is stopping me fitting it. Also because the console has a slight curve on it and the alloy surround does not, then I presume all bolts need to be tightened in order to make them both meet tightly. This means i can't cut this bolts and instead of drilling the center console. I guess the openings in these center consoles all vary slightly!!

I didn't have any problems, the screws all fitted through the opening, although they were tight. I guess not all consoles are the same, have a word with Simon at Leven he designed them and is very helpful. The curve in the console which is not that big and the surround match as you tighten the screws then just tweek them up a bit over the first couple weeks.

i have raided the Leven catalogue for just about everything they do for the Chimaera and one of my favourite bits is the gear lever surround.go for it,in my view its the dogs b's.can't help you on the fitting as Peninsula TVR installed mine.one thing i wish Leven would make is some sexy ali key blanks to replace the Vauxhall ones.must remember to talk to Jules again on the subject.

I fitted it mainly to hide a gash that was i the centre console from the previous owner. It hid it perfectly as well as tidying the area up. I took the opportunity to trim the leather gear stick gator down a bit so it does not look like a 'bloom' and looks more fitted. Actually took quite a bit off. With this surround, when fitting it clamps the gator in to where you would like it, rather than the gator stuffed into place.
