Im just wondering if anyone has ever had both a 27mm and 31mm thermostat fitted to there Griff at different times? The reason im asking is because I fitted the Leven cooling kit a little while ago which includes a 74 degree thermostat (although its only 27mm!) and a lower temperature otter switch (fans on at 84 deg and off 78 deg, something like this i can't remember exactly). The problem im having is when im driving along at 40 MPH and over my car keeps nice and cool at all times, between 75 deg and 80 deg. However when I become stationary and the fans come on ok but they seem to struggle to lower the temperature. In fact it seems like it goes up! The other day I tested it and the fans come on and stayed on for 10 minutes!!! and didn't seem to reduce the temperature(temperature gauge stayed at 90 deg), until I started moving again then the temperature came down to 80 deg. Would the larger diameter thermostat help to control the temperature better when stationary??? Has anyone else got any experience's with the leven cooling kit??

Are your fans wired correctly(sucking into the bay rather than blowing)one of mine was and looked factory(no wiring meddling)i found this by accident although the car had not been running hot but the thought of both being wired incorrectly eek i also have the Wahler 74 wide opening stat and cooler Wahler otter switch fitted(both OE spec)Wahler are high quality units wink does it run hot when you really start to nail it?

The larger stat won't make much difference when stationary because the water flow is very low at idle anyway. The main thing to watch for with low speed cooling is that the fans are pulling in cold fresh air and you aren't getting hot air from the engine bay recirculating through the radiator.

As long as im moving its ok, cruising or nailing. Its just stationary it seems to struggle to lower the temperature with the fans. Although it never gets above 90 deg.

Both fans are correctly wired and sucking air through.
