I thought I would put this on here, but may get into trouble.....not sure.

I used to own a griff 500 and have always wanted to race in the TVR Challenge so I bought this car from Marc Hockin this year and have had a great time.

If any of you guys have ever thought about racing in a griff then feel free to drop me a line to see what it was like and for further info on the car if it is of interest as I intend to move into Class A for next season.

Due to the unique way that PH is funded and because I dont want to be accused of blatantly advertising in the forums, I should point out that Andy Races car is also available in the classifieds as is Graham Waldens Tuscan which is also eligible for class B.

I have spoken to Chris Woolgar, the sprint editor for the motorsports section, about doing a piece for sprint to encourage new drivers into the series as many people may believe that the barriers to entry are much higher than they are. There are some cars available like mine in the mid teens, but if some of you only wanted to dip your toe in with a Tasmin or similar then there are cars available from 5k.

Drop me a line if you need any info at all about either the car or the series. More info can also be found on the Dunlop Tuscan Challenge forums in the motorsport section of the PH Forums.

Hi Owen! I can't afford the Griff unfortunately, but I was going to say that you should add to your advert that the chassis isn't standard. I believe Tony had extra bracing put in to stiffen it up as well as the cage so it has a really sound race chassis. This alone would set it apart from any conventional racing Griff or Chim smile

It will be interesting to see if your and the other cars find buyers. I think it was about this time last year (or maybe the year before) that a flurry of quite tempting competition ready wedges appeared and they seemed to struggle to find buyers.

I and quite probably a fair few people that sprint or hill climb are tempted by these sort of cars but it is a difficult decision to take. It is probable that your potential market already has a Griff or Chim and has probably already fettled the suspension, bolted on the normal induction mods, changed the seats, fitted a harness etc and has got to the point where any more mods and it stops being a road car that can be used on the track and becomes a track car that can be used on the road.

The decision has to be continue modding or sell and buy one that is already done, as values drop more modding an existing car that you know seems more sensible even though ultimately you always spend more than the end result is worth.

It's fair to say that Owen was 'reasonably quick' in this car also.

Bloody hell you're all selling up! I supposed you have a good reason though Andy... If it doesn't sell and you need somewhere to store it when you go away, I'd be happy to look after her. Obviously I'll run the engine and take her around the block a few times a day to keep the engine fresh - I'd even do it for free, how generous am I?! biggrin

Those are fair points Steve. I think that griff will probably go to someone like me who this time last year wanted to enter racing, and had an afiliation to TVR. I did however feel that the Tuscan would be too much for me in my first season, but the griff would be enough of a challenge ( which it proved to be on more than one occasion). As most will testify, this car has had a lot more spent on it over the years than simply a strip out and a fettle and Marc was very competitive in it. ( I couldnt get the best from it!!) It will be a great car for someone to step into a race straight from the box.

Those that buy a car for 8-10k and then spend time and money on it to try to make it competitive for class B would probably struggle to get better value for money than just buying something like this ( or another ) and saving a lot of time and hassle.

There are a few wedges around which ideally we would all like to see back in the championship. Some of these are ready to roll and others need some work, however even this season I can think of a few which have changed hands.

Each year seems to bring new people and I think that the cars will eventually find homes.

....hopefully wink

quick update on this - I have reduced the price and am willing to look at offers as I have been offered a couple of options for Class A in the TVR European Challenge for nenxt year. If anyone is interested, the car had over £31k spent on it about 4 years agp to get it race ready and plenty in the last few years to keep it that way. Its currently sat on a trailer on my house in Bristol, but will be at Oulton this weekend. Its reasdy to go with new slicks.

Trust me, go racing - you will never look back!
