Fuse box removal?
Discussion
Hi
Having replaced the radiator and checking for leaks etc I noticed that only one fan was working. If I swap the fan connections over the other fan comes on so the fan itself is fine so there must be some sort of fault in the feed.
The car is a 96 500 but appears to have the later fusebox with two fuses and relays for the fans. I've tried swapping the relays around and the fault stays with the same fan. Fuses are both OK so I can only assume that something is wrong with the wiring from the fusebox to the fan.
So to the point of my post, I need to check the wiring at the fusebox so I'm trying to get the fusebox out. I've removed the bolt at the bottom and it appears to be loose but doesn't want to come out. DOn't want to force it
Do I need to pull the battery out first? Is there some trick to getting the the fusebox out?

Hi,
I've just removed the fuse box on my 98 Griff. The bolt you describe didn't help much as the fuse panel was still cable-tie'd to the fibreglass housing in several places. I needed to remove the battery to expose a 2nd bolt at he lower part of the housing holding it to the end of the footwell. This bolt goes right through so you'll also need get behind the front NS wheel to access both sides of this bolt.
I'm fitting a fan run-on timer so I've had the fan related plugs off the back of the fuse box. They are the two on the left (as you look into the footwell). If you can't get your fans working let me know as I can tell you how to meter out each slot on the relay sockets to check for correct operation.
I hope this helps.
