Until today it has shut, no problems at all. Lower the boot, gently press, and hey presto, shut tight.

As from 3pm this afternoon, lower boot, gently press, boot doesnt catch, try again, nope still not shut, and again now with slightly more force as people are looking at the pretty purple sports car with the owner getting more and more frustrated at the fact his boot wont close gently press. Call Fernies, who advise the bootlid 'pin' may have moved upwards....oh hang on it's shut !! Thank Fernies for advice and drive to mates house where I have to get a bag out of the boot. Open boot, mate drools over car, try to shut boot, NOOOOOHHH, mate chuckles as I continually try to shut boot without mate noticing it wont shut !!

Finally boot shuts after various adjustments with mates spanner kit. Boot now shuts at a funny angle.

Any help appreciated !!

Simon.

What you need is a spare hour, a spanner & plenty of patience. Maybe a can or two. Just keep 'tweaking the pin' (ahem) untill it does what it should. Got mine just right now. smash

ETA. The receiver bit adjusts too along with the bolts that hold the lid to the hinges.

Also beware what you leave IN the boot! I had the embarassing experience of asking a garage to fix the boot mechanism as it wouldn't shut properly - they moved my briefcase which was wedged in against the rear of the boot and er, hey presto, it started workong again...

yes occasionally when you have a fully loaded boot it won't lock either, the weight of the boot contents apply pressure to the lock or slightly move something and it just won't catch. If you redistribute the weight you can get it to catch but it's always when you're in a rush or its raining hehe

Will bare this in mind, boot was nowhere near full yesterday though, just a hold all and the roof panel.

Cheers

My boot does not close since a couple of years now...nevertheless i didnt care too much, the only iussue that actually drive me nuts is that, occasionally, when i sprint start flooring the throttle, the boot suddenly opens!

Y'day i had a bike following me and i sprinted at a crosslight leaving the guy, for a few secs, well behind me...i then checked and the bike was still following me closer!! i thought he wanted to start an argument but he suddenly said...''Sir, your boot opens up widely when you accelerate...'' I displayed my best smile and replied: 'oh..i know'

The correct reply is

"It's a retractable aerodynamic traction control device"
