Time to say goodbye...

...to my car, but not to you lot!
As some of you will know, with another Grifflet on the way, I debated selling my Griffith, before my hand was forced early next year, through a lack of time to give it the care it deserves.
I never really concluded the debate before receiving an offer from a great guy called David who, frankly, was such a nice guy and so suited to the car that I accepted he would be a better guardian than me over the next few years.
So, in short, it's gone to a new home.
Thanks to all of you who've helped me out over the years, from whom I've learnt and gained inspiration. Thanks to those I've met at the Growl (over the last 3 years), those who attended the Interpro Rolling road shoot-out I organised in Bristol in 2007 (after Mike 'Mongoose' - The AJPGriff - gave everyone the idea I would organise it) and to everyone who I let past at track days.
Griffith ownership is a club. Precats are a club within a club. The sense of camraderie, humour, support and generosity among fellow owners and PHers is inspirational. Long may it last.
I won't be leaving these forums, though my attendance may drop-off a bit. I fully intend to attend the Growl each year (you owe me a beer Moosehunter) and continue to wind up Grover about the NOS bottle he hasn't discovered yet. One day, hopefully not too far off, I'll be back - in a proper Griff of course. One with a blocked-off nose and dirty stinking open-loop fuel injection.
The Griffith is a car so emotive that argoose bought one despite it having the wrong body. But he turned up to the Growl anyway! And I made a friend whose 'new' car I can't wait to see.
Specific thanks to Ian at Sportmotive too. I've known Ian - through Griffs (even though he parked his upside down) - since he started Sportmotive and he has been exceptionally supportive and diligent in providing excellent service. Anyone within driving distance of Stoke need look no further for first class service. Thanks also to AntonyJ who seconded my application to be 'honorary boy from Stoke' 3 Growls running and provided a reliable, very high speed taxi service from Stoke station.
There are many other PHers I could name, who I've spoken to, whose cars I've admired and who I've dealt with, but this isn't an oscars speech. You've all been mates. I'm grateful to you all for my ownership experience, because it's about the car AND the other owners. Now I'm without wheels I will still be around. Temporarily no longer an owner, but every inch a Griffter.
Long live the Griffith. In the words of Autocar:

So sorry to hear that you've parted company with your superb griff,Ben.Im know just how much you loved that car,and it really was such a good one.Theres nothing more worthwhile giving it up for though, than your very own flesh and blood

What a great 'closing speech' Griffter.
You'll be missed so make sure you keep that promise to stay around here.
And make sure the new owner David gets himself on here if he isn't already. We don't want to loose sight of that 4.3BV I've admired so many times.
Take care and I hope everything goes well with the new Grifflet

Hi Ben,
Sorry the Grifith has to go and a mighty fine example it is too...one of my favorite colour combos it has too. Glad its gone to a good home and hope you have pointed him towards us. keep popping in here as your knowledge is always welcome to help out owners new and old.
All the best and good luck with the new addition

As I said in my e-mail Ben - gutted.
Pleased for Nina and you on one front - congratulations, but a real shame you've left the fold. You'll be missed, well, your car at least.
I'm sure you'll be back in a precat one day, still chasing my old dog ...

Best of luck mate. Hope all goes well for you and yours. See you at Combe, Growl, etc anyway.

Hi... just looked on this forum after buying Griffter's lovely 4.3 BV pre-cat Griff. It's always a bit of a leap to buy something like a 16 year old TVR... but Ben's knowledge of his car and the fastidious attention to detail convinced me it was the right one to go for.
It's great to see so many warm wishes that complement the car and the (previous) owner.
Looking forward to contributing to the threads.
I've already taken the services of Forza West and I have to say the service was excellent.
It's nice to be back in with the TVR crowd...was up at Silverstone on Sunday and the Griff was in good company on the A43.
