Pre-Cat Dashboard
Discussion
On a Pre-Cat Griffith what is the make-up of the dashboard,I have seen pictures of the origional dash and the guages are recessed (guage bezels not proud ) is the dashboard metal with a wooden overlay that is verneered? The reason for this question is that my Griff has new dashboard installed by a previous owner,it is made of plywood and then this is verneered. The guages are non TVR and these stand proud and are not in the correct positions, and niether are the switches.I am trying to remedy this and put the dashbard back to as it left the factory. The warning light strip is missing too.
Does anyone have a template/old pre-cat dash that can be exchanged for beer tokens
If anyone can help it would be Very Very Very Much appreciated, even if its information on how the dash is constructed
Cheers

you are correct in how the dash is put to gether....metal with a vener overlay....
with regards to light panel I've only ever seen one "original ?" looking strip for sale in my 4 yrs of ownership......
someone did make a very good looking ali one though which I think a few were sold amongst the ph community.
occasionaly a dash comes up for sale..... generally needing reveneering..... no idea what breaker would want.

I can get hold of a PreCat Dash Ally overlay, which I have on mine as the Veneer is dead.
The instruments sit back from the actual dash and are secured by the usual clamps which clamp to little 'Z' pieces of metal which are glued to the dash. Best reinforce these with Araldite or similar as after a time they ten to break off and your clocks drop into the dash. Which happened to me last week.

On the dashboard the warning light strip is a piece of plastic with symbols printed or etched on,how are the warning lights themselves made up and how are they attached so as they shine through the plastic strip with the symbols on?
Also I presume the warning lights are different colours,I know the handbrake and the brake fluid lights are red,but what colours are the rest of the warning lights?
Any info gratefully received THANKS.
