Has anyone fitted any removable silencers? I'm thinking along the lines of the ACT trackday ones, are these ok for road use? I'm just pre empting the neighbours " Your car is a bit loud at 5a.m" comments. Also paranoid after just getting the " Get that 3/4 plate off your car or else" letter from the BiB
Did Pasco have some fitted or are they permanent cans?

Clive Ford does some really nice ones that fit inside the tail pipes,so do not spoil the look.I'm having some put on minesmile.I think you might need 3" tail pipes though,or maybe he could still do it for the std sizescratchchin

No illegal spacing or font. It was a one from fancyplates, if that's any help. I just drove past a van, under the speed limit, then got the letter saying £30 fine unless I send a photo of the car with full size plates on. If I get spotted again, anywhere by the looks of it, and it's a £30 fine no questions.
Anyhoo, any more for silencers? Cheers Mikethumbup

I currently have the silencers that fit inside the pipes, secured with self tappers(otherwise i assume you would turn the rear pipes into mortars !!) on my 5 litre.will probably be be selling them shortly.

Sometime ago (>5 years) the DVLA told me that legislation applies only to the font size and spacing - NOT the plate itself (to which obviously material and mounting regualtions apply). I was told there was nothing to stop me cutting a plate down as long as the digits were unaffected. That may have changed of course...

Odd, since my 3/4 plate with 3/4 size font passes its MOT (font style and spacing are legal, only font size different) I can only assume that as it is all in proportion, I just look further away!!!

I've been doing a bit of digging. It seems that there are no size limits on the plate, just font, spacing and size of letters.
It looks as though you can get away with 11mm surrounding the letters. Which looks like what FFG has on his. So a plate with 7 characters without 1's or I's could be 460mm X 101mm, as opposed to standard 520mm X 112mm or my 3/4 plate 390mm X 84mm.
This is just my understanding and could be wrong.
Anymore for silencers?
