I've ordered new 7.5x17 (ET 25) and 9x18 (ET 35) Rimstock pro.race wheels for my griffith, what are the more suitable tire sizes to fit these rims, and what's best brand for performance, on your opinion?
Thanks and have a nice week end
Morning, I have front 17x8 et25 with 215/40/17 and rear 18x9 et40 with 265/35/18. They are fitted with Bridgestone RE050 Asymetrics. Not exactly the same size rims but I've found these to be very good, no track days though. Mike (AJP Griff)fitted these, I'm sure he'll be along soon with some advice on sizes for your rims. Thanks and have a nice week end

I am looking at the same wheels, but different sizes.
In a previous thread, Mike said that you will need ET 40 to avoid the tyre rubbing the wheel arch with a 9 X18.
I contacted the suppliers and was told that ET35 is the maximum offset made with 9 X 18 for these particular wheels.
However, I can have ET 40 with 9 X 17. Given a 265/40 R17 tyre this would make very difference to the Speedo and gearing.
I would have preferred the 18” wheel, so let us know if the ET35 does work. One local owner put ET 40 9 X 18 with a 265/35 R 18 on his Cerb. It LOOKED fine until the car was used. Then the outside edges of the tyres met the wheel arch and trashed his new tyres. I have no idea what size difference there is between the Cerb and Griff wheel arches’ (anyone here know?) Adjusting the suspension gave the clearance needed. With an ET35 you might not be able to get clearance.
So if you are fitting this size, it is important to have it done somewhere that can properly set up your suspension to ensure clearance BEFORE you drive it.
As for tyre choice, I have been recommended the Goodyear Eagle F1 asymmetric. Obviously I haven’t had the chance to try these yet. However the guy who suggested this has a distinguished history of setting up Tuscan challenge winners and TVR Le Mans cars.
I will be going for the 235/40 R17 fronts.
Then either 265/40 R17 rears on 9 X 17 ET40 (if I can't get the ET35 to fit)
But my first choice would be 265/35 R18 if the ET35 will fit.

The ET 40 would take the wheel slightly more ''inside'' the wheel arch, will it?
Now i'm e bit concerned about rubbing it if i fix the ET35 9x18...matbe the solution would be getting 255x35x18 tires instead 265...?
Also, i have a new suspension set up with the car lowered by about 1''...that will worsen it, am i right?

I think et40 takes the wheel further out. As usual it's a Saturday and the Duvel is kicking in so I may be wrong. My Griff is low (too low?) and I have no problemsNow i'm e bit concerned about rubbing it if i fix the ET35 9x18...matbe the solution would be getting 255x35x18 tires instead 265...?
