I would just like to post my thanks for some kind soul who stopped yesterday to help after I broke down on 'day one' of ownership of a Griffith on a country lane near Reading and the M4.
This kind soul, not a TVR member but a 'unknown' sports car enthusiast stopped and asked for a hair pin from his partner / friend. My car had overheated, and by using the metal pin we made a connection to over ride the otter switch to keep the fans running. Who ever you are, we didn't have time to chat, A BIG THANK YOU for taking the time to stop and help out. What a gentleman! Despite our problems with modern society, there are SOME decent folk out there. As for the outcome the car went back to the dealership last night where they discovered today I had a blocked radiator. All now fixed I believed and looking forward to getting the car back, soon I hope!

You were lucky. A long way from home too. Hope this little problem doesn't mar your Griff experience to much. I've fitted a fan override switch to mine so I can flick the fans on manually if need be. As well a being a back up for a failed otter switch, I normally switch the fans on when I'm in 'stop start' traffic before the temperature starts to climb. CRAIG

thumbup Nice to hear that real decent human beings still exist smile

I have also fitted a manual fan over ride switch and do exactly the same. Slow moving traffic - turn the fans on just in case !!

Try the twin speed set up from David Beer, I use my Griff in traffic every day and the two speed set up never lets the temp go above 90. You can set the temperatures yourself on the marked switches to suit your circumstances.

Enjoy the Griff, like you I had/have an S and the difference is quite substantial but it is amazing how quickly the Griff just seems to be so right.
YB

Rosso Pearl Metallic or Mica Red or any red come to think about it is the best colour for a Griff! hehegetmecoat

Not that it will happen again, but for reference it is a good idea to carry a selection of standard automotive blade fuses with you in case one blows, and if you pull both wires off the otter switch the blade fuse is just the right size to bridge them together to bring the fans on.

It was me who stopped!

I'm really pleased that it helped you get up and running.

The kitcar I was driving is my "Sylva Mojo", it took 2 years to build and has ben on the road for just under 6 months.

Picture of it here http://bp0.blogger.com/_AqMYdlmgpt8/SE_f8qyRSgI/AA...

website of it here http://www.sylvamojo.blogspot.com/

I was only too pleased to stop as all the times my kitcar(s) have given me jip, only one person has ever stopped.

Cheers for now,

Trevor.

Hi Trev,

Once again, many thanks, all up and running and car returned to me with a new radiator, otter switch and starter motor. If I'm in the Reading area again I shall now know who to wave to!
Cheers
