Having seen the condition of the grifs outriggers I decided at the end of July grif needed a full body off and the chassis refurbished and decided to do all but the chassis refurb myself. Biggest project prior to this was an engine and gearbox removal on my saab900turbo16s. This has been really great experience. Just a big airfix kit really. 700 photos and 3 months of pretty consistent work as and when I could has resulted in a 4.3 that feels and looks great.
Topcats did the chassis repair, sourced parts, organised the nylon coating set up the suspension and gave advise when I needed any (generally at any time) - they were really good and their work excellent.
It really is a joy to drive now and I know it intimately, which gives me loads of confidence in its ability.
Really the way to go if considering outrigger replacement and saves buckets of money if you can do most of it yourself.
I will be posting photographs as soon as I can work out how to do it.
