Griffith exhaust mods
Discussion
Much to my surprise, I now find that my Griffith 500 exhaust has been modified by a previous owner! Silencer has been peeled open and entire innards have been crudely removed then welded closed again. I re-opened it to find this and now have a dilemma as to what to do next. It is currently an empty box with just the short stubs from the old pipes remaining either side. Understandably it resonated badly!!.
Do I -
A) weld in straight pipes, pack with wadding and weld shut - most of you will recommend this I guess, but in reality is it TOO loud !!! BTW, precats are still in place and will remain so.
B) weld original type baffle pipes in
C) Drill some holes in straight pipes to allow a bit of silencing, but how much / many??
Any opinions / other suggestions appreciated.

Having opened the existing one up the car is now undriveable and maybe I should be taking the oportunity to make it a decent sport system. Why did you take your system off at 11K? Too quiet? What do you have on it now?
I will wait to see what the general consensus is however I will not totally rule out buying yours if that becomes my best option.

Is that the one ACT sell?
I think so, but I got mine direct from JP as they ain't that far away, so I collected it and got a good deal
I want something a little louder than that (not full decat loud) but with a deeper burble.

Quinny, I would seriously have considered that but Shropshire to Berkshire is a long treck and guess a courier will be VERY expensive.
How about 30mins from M4 J17...My old zorst is lying around gathering dust. Its done mileage but is sound, just needs a damn good clean up. email me if you're interested.

I really would like consider having a go at rebuilding my current one into some kind of sport system first.
why bother if you don`t want it louder then, if you really want it that quiet, then your only option is to return the silencer to its standard form.sports exhaust are labelled "sports" as they are designed to increase performance, and in doing so are not as restrictive as the standard system, the drawback, if you call it one, is a louder system.
some like them, some don`t.
