Trackday exhaust (thanks Clive)
Discussion
While I did some electrickery on Clive's Griff, he started putting this together for me:
I'm using an Edelbrock SDT silencer instead of the original non-silencing silencer and hoping to reduce noise by at least 14dB.

It's 2.5" tube all the way now instead of having the 2" sections, so it should flow well. Just the 3" section between the manifolds and the silencer to go now.

its the silencer that Daves got that should be doing the work, we`ll see what its like when he`s got it up and running.although the 2 1/2" tube at the back will help. I`ve been running that myself for a while now.
I am working on some new silencers in conjunction with Joo at the moment, trying to achieve trackday db without losing power, and will be testing at trackcar solutions on a cerb before xmas, so if these , or one of these work, then no reason why we cant do the same on the griff/chim.
if anyone wants their car rewired, dnb`s your man
Dave, is there ANYTHING, Nic does`nt let you do in your front room!!

...and it was only yesrerday that we were all bragging about how loud the cars were!
Me included.
I have 3 exhausts for mine now.
1. Std system for when the aero's off and the cars "std"
2. Aero on LOUD! (115db)
2. Aero on Race. (103db)
All allow good flow and don't reduce power much, but for 100db days (Bedford/Combe/GWood) I still need an extra TD can in the back!
Nice looking pipes Clive.

Just a point of interest, I am certain you have measured it all up, however… I had a nice new box made up to replace the “sound like you are going faster” one that a previous owner had fitted. All looked good until the fitting stage when it became obvious that something was fouling. I had previously wondered why the original box had a “dent” in the top, it is there to clear the prop shaft UJ. If your new box is the same size as the old one but without the “dent” you may find things a bit clattery when the prop shaft is rotating.
Bit of a delay while a certain AJP Griff was built...
But here's an update:
The exhaust is all together, using the original flexi section. Clive can just be seen finishing off the tail pipes.

It sounds very good, and seems to be less restrictive than the standard system
Noise is reduced by 5dB at idle, down to 92dB. No data for 4k yet, but it sounds like it's a considerabe improvement, even if it does sound more NASCARish.
Maybe some absorbtion silencers in the tail pipes will prove necessary, but I hope not.
