Hi can anybody tell me where the heater blower is situated on a 1994 500 serp as mine has stopped working, normaly i would not be to bothered but its so cold and i carn't get any heat in the car without it. I was out for 2 hours boxing day and when i got back had to have my fingers prised from the wheel. I've tried a search only results are for pre-serp. i've spent the afternoon looking for the blower in the inner wing under the headlamp pod but its not there.

On the 500 heaters the motor is in the inner wing right next to the matrix.

Thanks Antony is it only accessable through the dashboard ?
Is there an easy way to get to it?
Is the fan the same as the pre-serp, off a nova?

On the subject of heater motors stopping working...

I have recently noticed that when I switch on the heater fan, the volt meter on the gauge drops by 1 or 2 volts. Perhaps it’s always done that, but I have only noticed it recently.

Do they all do that, or is it a sign of impending problems? I am guessing that a seizing fan bearing would do it, but there isn’t any sound to suggest that. The heated mirrors are on the same circuit I think. Could they account for it?

The heated mirrors draw between 1 and 2 amps depending on their condition. However, the fan draws just over 10A, so I'm not surprised there's a small volts drop if the battery isn't very new or the alternator is a bit old. They're not on the same circuit, but do switch on together.

I don't think the Chim 'box in the wing' is the same as the Griff so would be of little use, whereas I think the actual blower motor are common. Certainly the mixer box / matrix / vents appear different (can't actually visualize it at the moment - but many of us are hazy at this time of year hehe) Happy to post pics of the motor I've got them somewhere if you want BOut wink

Very M Mouse esq. isn't it smile

BrownOut, I thought about it but decided it either sounded like a trouser accident (apt considering his track record!) or an electrical incident...

Yes there is indeed progress. When everything calms down after the holidays, I have a fair sized job for your establishment to have a look at if you're interested biggrin

The heater/blower in my Griff is one of the more reliable parts now... eek
