I've got a battery cut-out switch on my 4.0 which I sometimes use if the car will be standing for more than a few days. I've now experimented a bit with killing batt for even a few seconds and I'm convinced that the car runs better after the battery has been "cut" as opposed to after it's been used for a while. This doesn't appear to be related to how warm or cold the engine is rather that with use it perfomrs worse until the power is cycled. I'm guessing that the "learing/adapting" behaviour of the ECU is actually making it worse and resetting it makes it better.

Has anyone else come across anything like this before?

Cheers,

Neil

Sounds more like there is a duff sensor which is screwing the running, then when you power the ecu down it is resetting the fault.

Only the GEMS ECU has adaptive learning..

The 14CU and 14CUX have to manage without..

It may be you have a fault code that is being cleared when the power is turned off..

Thanks is there any way I can get this checked out for a sensible price i.e. just see if there is a fault code present?

Cheers,

Neil
