Oil Pressure Gauge
Discussion
Hello all
Help needed (again)....
After using the Griff in really foul wet weather, the oil pressure gauge has started playing up. It reads 90 psi with the ignition on and the engine off, so I am thinking that I have a duff earth somewhere....
Any ideas where the earthing point is for this (and the assocated wiring in the engine bay) so that I can clean it all up ?
Thanks
Chris

Pressure sender may have gone. Its the small round thing on the bottom of the engine with one wire coming out of it (sorry about the description). Try jacking the car up and cleaning the connection up, if this doesn't work the unit may need replacing. Very easy job to do and should solve the problem. Mine went without warning after a very wet day so yours could be the same!

Oil pressure gauge works by an ignition switched feed running via the gauge to the sensor. If you short the sensor end to chassis the gauge should read full scale. If the wire has come off the gauge or the connection is poor it will more likely read low or no pressure. If it is reading high all the time unplug the wire from the sensor. If it still reads high then chances are the wire is shorting to chassis somewhere.
Remember there are two pressure sensors. One underneath the oil filter that is for the gauge and one above the filter that is for the warning light.

I'm having a similar problem, off the scale when the ign on but engine not running, then reading 0 pressure when the engine starts, (the warning light goes out right away so I'm guessing the actual pressure is OK) there are 2 sensors on the oil pump cover, a small one with a single spade terminal and a much larger one with 2 small bolt(m4?)fittings, which sensor is which? I assume one is the warning light and the other the gaugeRemember there are two pressure sensors.
