Why not give it a quick edit and post a copy as a Wiki Moose? I'd even separate the shielding bits into another one if I was you.
I think a wiki is best, as Sportmotive may change the plates or at least offer alternatives so it can be updated as things develop..

Then we can take the piss in the thread without tarnishing the important bits evilhehe Effin rotor blades and aerodynamics your just planning on plenty of bl00dy donuts!!!! rofl

Have you seen it outside today ? It's like all my Christamas' come at once

Griff on the road again on Sunday, full layering of snow on Monday

Donut heaven !

Will look into the Wiki idea. Not really sure on what I have to do at present. And right now I have a solid V8 beast waiting to be fired into life

Can't post a link to the material I am afraid as it was a commercial purchase and it come in 50m roll lengths that I won't scare you with the price of. I'll try to find the product code and see if anyone sells it in smaller lengths ( assuming it works of course )

Cheers

Just a quick update to say that after a few months since replacement not only have the outriggers not fallen off but the plastic coated protection I trialed seems to be hanging in there admirably

Not a sign of any loose edges or degredation ( hence still pristine coating on my outriggers )

I'll give it a few months more before professing that this really does work, but he signs are promising

Cheers

Not being one to to drag up unwanted threads thought some of you may be interested

Happy to say that after over 2 years this shiit really works ( although not used recently due to one missing piston ....)

Having been under it more than I care to recently, I can confirm that this method of outrigger protection does work. No signs of any lifting edges and no signs of damage to the integrity of the material despite using R88's that shower the underside with gravel more than standard gaylord tyres

Original info below to save hunting

I wanted to protect my shiny new Outriggers so as to never have to do this job ever again

So I came up with this idea idea

Abrasion protection smash coutesy of a very durable 3M self adhesive. Thicker and more "rubbery" and durable than armourfend or stonegaurd

Photos as promised

Firstly I made a template using a sheet of masking material

Shows cut template ( different one than above ) held in position and beginnings of application

Showing material (as best I could get) prior to full application

Fully applied tube

Junction of front ns corner, with all tubes and corner plate covered as best as possible excluding the welded areas and edges

smokin

I wanted to give as much protection as I could that would stay on, hence keeping it away from the egdes / welds. The fact that it would not adhere to the welds due to the undulating surface helped this decision I do not want any unsealed edges as this will lead to moisture traps and localised failure of the material and potential corrosion blackspots )
The idea being that I could touch in these areas as and where necessary and if the material gets damaged over time then it will be sacraficial and having kept the templates I will cut some new ones when required. It's only on the areas that I can reach with the outriggers in place, so if it either fails or needs replacing then I can do it without cutting chunks of my body away.

Material is used to protect helicopter rotors amongst other application ( we used it to protect the front of Ferrai's official 430 race cars) I know my car is superfast but I have not yet managed to get it faster than a speeding rotor ( yet ) so it should hopefully stay on OK

My biggest fear is that as I use Toyo's fantastic 888's they tend to chuck up more shrapnel onto the car due to the sticky nature of the rubber. This may have a more pronounced effect to me more than to the rest of you who have not yet discovered the new world of proper cornering capabilities ( ignore most of the scaremongering about their ability in the wet, as a lot of it is unsubstantiated. The benfits far outweigh the negatives yes especially if your car is an occasional toy. Don't expect more than a few thousand out of a set but if you live for the bends and not a point and quirt straight line merchant, then it's well worth the wonga )

Sorry didn't mean to crack out the soapbox and no ... I'm not on commision

I will keep you updated as to the suitability of the material once I've racked up a few miles driving

Cheers
