What size socket fits lambda sensors ?

not sure on the size but you get them as proper lambda sockets with a slit down the side to allow the wires to go through.

Seems the standard ones are a 17mm head, anybody know if are they all the same size ?

The standard NGK narrowband sensors used on the TVRs are a 17mm hex and are inside a 26mm bore (so that's how small your socket has to be). That's a common size on TVRs but not a standard size for other brands.

I made this from a 17mm long socket
with a grinder works a treat

If you're grinding a slot down the socket you need to bear in mind that the wires have high temp silicon insulation which is very soft and easily damaged - you must make sure there are no sharp edges.

i used the 17mm long socket with a slot after looking everywhere for the proper tool. works a treat as green v8s said smooth the rough edges
