Well after following Del to the Essex Jan meet I booked my Griff into Taylor TVR (Dan and Colin) to have the pre cats removed and fit a de-cat Y piece.

So here is some info for those that are thinking about doing the same.

Noise level at idle measured at 45 degrees and 500mm away: -
Before 96 dB
After 103 dB

Temperatures using IR thermometer: -
Before
NS pre cat area = 280c
OS pre cat area = 290c
Main cat area = 195c

After
NS pre cat area = 240c
OS pre cat area = 220c
Main cat area = 90c

Main cat area temperature is down by a long way!!!!

I’ve put a video on youtube showing before and after although the after is a little too loud for the microphone to cope with, it distorts frown

I FOLLOWED DEL IN THE CONVOY OF THE LAST MEET. THINK IT MAY HAVE AFFECTED MY HEARING.

hehe The funniest thing was watching him try to keep the car quiet when a police car tagged along behind me. rofl

Very interesting that, am gearing myself up to do that myself, well pre cats anyway.
Amazed how much the temp drops by. And the sound is quite different isnt it.

Putting it off as I'm just dreading undoing the bloody bolts.

Well I've been out for a "proper" drive now and you know how the louder the engine the faster you feel you're moving???
Well I'm sure I have more torque now.
I'm gonna have to get it on a power run!

When Dan (Taylor TVR) removed the pre cats he did tell me the NS had shot forward putting a hole in the lambda sensor. It was blocking the flow also.
I didn't think I'd notice the return of the lost power but yikes I must have been missing some horses for a while!

Day off tomorrow so more driving

Thats exactly what happened to one of my pre/cats,i did notice though purely because one bank of cylinders had gone on to limp mode due to the Lambda tip being torn off and it no longer giving feedback to the ECU eek low speed cruising was awful wink bet your car sounds sweet now thumbup

Nice Vid. What camera mount are you using? The picture was very still, but the dash moved up and down...

I Had a hugely entertaining drive the other day chasing friends in a Lotus Exige and Lotus Europa round the country lanes. Love the slippy roads spin

Home made smile
Two bits of wood bolted together between both head rest posts.
The seats flex which moves the camera smile
